Fleet E-ZPass accounts

Ohio E-ZPass offers commercial accounts with bulk transponder ordering, monthly consolidated invoicing, and per-vehicle reporting suitable for fuel-tax filings. Set up at ohioezpass.com.

Oversize and overweight permits

Loads exceeding standard width, length, height, or weight require a permit issued by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Permits typically restrict travel hours, weather conditions, and lane usage on the Turnpike.

Weigh stations

Scales operate at multiple Turnpike service plazas. PrePass and Drivewyze bypass enrollment applies; uncertified trucks must pull in when signs are lit.

Hazmat restrictions

Standard placarded loads are permitted. Specific class-9 explosives and certain bulk radiological loads are restricted. Check current ODOT and Turnpike notices before dispatching.

Trucker amenities

  • Free showers at all 14 service plazas, in the dedicated trucker section.
  • Designated long-haul parking, generally generous outside of peak holiday weekends.
  • Overnight parking permitted (subject to plaza signage).
  • Sunoco fuel at every plaza, often the best price within 10 miles.
  • Separate trucker restrooms and lounge area at most plazas.

Speed and safety

Mainline speed limit

70 mph for all vehicles, including Class 5 to 7 commercial. Same as cars, no split limit. 10 mph at toll plazas.

Construction and weather

Variable signs reduce limits in construction zones, fog, and high-wind weather. Slow rolls are signalled by the lit work-zone signs.
